I just got back from a two week, computer-free holiday in Brazil. It’s been a while since I haven’t taken a little time off this virtual life we love so much. I must admit it was a little weird not being in front of the computer most of the day but also very fun. Seeing friends I haven’t seen in a long time, family and hometown was pretty cool, although completely different than what I thought it would be like. I think that made me notice that I really don’t live there anymore. And for the first time, I actually noticed the city (Brasília) and how different it is. Something I didn’t really do when I lived there. I only wish I had a little more time so I could also visit São Paulo. I really miss it there.
So… for those of you who haven’t been to Brazil, never heard of Brazil, or maybe plan on going there one day, a couple of pictures of two of my favorite cities.
Brasília
Brasília is Brazil’s capital… and the city where I was born. It is considered by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, meaning it has an international interest in preserving it the way it is. It is one of the first – if not the first, I’m not too sure – planned cities in the world. And if viewed from above, it resembles an airplane. It’s very interesting moving around the city for the way the addresses work is very different from the other cities. In Brasília, there are no street names so we know where we are or where we are headed to through the number of the block, referenced according to the main avenues that cut the city from east to west and from north to south. Kind of weird explaining it here but easy to understand once you live it. It is also famous for the very wide avenues and lots of green areas. And also for it’s sky, which some say has no other alike in the world.

São Paulo
This is my favorite city in Brazil. Lot’s to do, everyday of the week.Unfortunately, when I lived there I didn’t have much time to see the sights because of work, but even if I did I don’t think I would have seen as much as I’d like since it’s Brazil’s largest city. But even so I did a lot and saw a lot. This is a city I think everyone should go to one day.

Paulista Avenue
There’s a lot more to Brazil then these two cities but they are by far my favorite places in Brazil. Next time I go over there I’ll try to go somewhere else and take more of my own pictures to put them up here.
